Where is the Maldives?
In the Indian Ocean between 7° 6′ 35″ and 0° 42′ 24″ south and between 72° 33′ 19″ and 73° 46′ 13″ east of Greenwich.
Where is Addu?
Addu Atoll (previously also known as Seenu Atoll), is at the southernmost point of the Maldives. It is relatively large by Maldive standards.
What is the capital of the Maldives?
Male is the capital.
What is the usual climate?
Sub-tropical, with two monsoons, hot, humid and dry in northeast monsoon (November to March) and rainy in southwest monsoon (June to August) Average temperature around 29 – 32 degrees.
Do I have to apply for visa prior to my visit?
No prior visa is required to enter the Maldives and a free 30 day visa is granted to all visitors who meet immigration requirements upon arrival. But a visa is required for overnight transit in Sri Lanka. This can be applied for online prior to leaving your home country.
What should I wear?
T-shirts and other light cotton clothes are the most suitable. Nudity is forbidden in all areas and modest clothing of non-see-through material (especially for women) is recommended when visiting all inhabited islands.
What are the languages spoken?
Dhivehi – a language spoken exclusively by Maldivians, is the National language, but English is used widely.
What currencies are used?
The national currency is Rufiyaa (MRf). It is advised to bring USD or EURO. These are accepted widely in Addu.
What credit cards are accepted?
Visa, Master, American express, credit cards.
Health Advice
Mosquito repellent, long sleeves and pants, and other typical precautions will help reduce the number of bites and risk of mosquito bites .
Sunburn is another health risk in this multi-island nation. Many travelers plan for plenty of time on the beach to soak up the sun and easily overdo it. Sunburn can not only make you uncomfortable and miserable throughout your vacation, but it can also be quite dangerous in the case of sunstroke. Be sure to take precautions to avoid sunburn.
Before traveling to the Maldives it is highly advised to visit your local health department to ensure your vaccinations are up to date.
Is there a hospital in Hithadhoo?
Yes there are government and private hospitals and private clinics.
Do I need an international drivers licence if I want to hire a motorbike?
Yes you do and this can be arranged in your home country.
Is the water safe to drink from the tap?
NO. Though tap water is supplied by government domestic supply which is treated and to the standards. But we advise to use bottled water, mineral water which are widely available in almost every retail shop and restaurants. Your hotel will supply bottled water to your room every day should you require more than that, we recommend to use bottled mineral water for drinking .
Do I've to book my excursions and activities during my holiday?
No, you don't.
Your holiday package (7 night trip) is an all inclusive package, which includes boarding and lodging, (breakfast at hotel and other meals as per travel itinerary) excursions, tours, and other leisure activities will be arranged as per the travel itinerary accordingly, your travel itinerary will be given to you upon confirming your trip with us to ADDU City Maldives. Our representatives will escort you during your tour.
Can I book any other activity or any other excursion with others?
Your safety and wellness is our first and last priority so we will check whether that required service is to the standards we accept, before confirming any of such activity.
Do I have to go to hotel by myself from airport?
The hotel staff will receive you at the GAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT arrival terminal, and our staff will accompany you on your arrival till your departure through out your holiday trip. Airport transportation will be arranged as per travel itinerary. (your travel itinerary gives details about your vacation trip).
Do you require travel insurance?
Travel insurance is not mandatory, but it is advisable.
As the Maldives is a 100% Muslim country by law and regulations it is prohibited to carry alcoholic beverages and pet dogs.
